Half Persian 3-1 can make a great trim to finish off European 4-1. This tutorial covers a way to add Half Persian 3-1 to the side of European 4-1. By combining this tutorial and the tutorial for adding Half Persian 3-1 trim to the top of European 4-1, you can just about completely encircle an European 4-1 patch with Half Persian 3-1.

In order to make sure everything fits, I recommend rings with an AR of at least 5 for the Half Persian 3-1 chain and the connecting European 4-1 rings. You can drop it down a bit for the rest of the European 4-1 rings.

For this tutorial, silver rings are European 4-1 rings. Gold rings are Half Persian 3-1 rings.

Step 2: Connect a ring to the 3 left-most bottom-row rings. It should make the same style connection that's used in HP3-1 Sheet 6. That is, bring it up through the leftest-most ring, and then down through the eye formed from the 2nd and 3rd leftiest rings.
So much for simple.

Step 3: Repeat Step 2, this time with the 3rd, 4th and 5th rings. This is still a HP3-1S6 connection; you've just skipped the ring in between.

Step 4: Continue all the way to the end of the HP3-1 chain. If things don't completely line up at the end, improvise.

Step 5: Connect a row of rings E4-1-style to the 3 rings you added in the previous steps.

Step 6: Add the rest of the E4-1 rings.
